This issue of the magazine coincides with the final year of the university’s strategy
(2019-2023), during which it has successfully accomplished most of its objectives.
This achievement is evident in the advancement of its educational, training, and
research services, as well as in the strengthening of its relationships with Arab interior
ministries, as it serves as the scientific body of the Arab Interior Ministers Council.
Additionally, the university has forged close partnerships with prestigious universities
and influential international organizations, all while enhancing the efficiency of its
administrative operations and investing in the development of its infrastructure and
digital capabilities.
The current issue of Life& Security magazine is devoted to shedding light on the topic
of border security, which currently stands as a top priority for all countries globally,
without exception. Given the notable and escalating rates of migrants and asylum
seekers due to crises and disasters witnessed worldwide, border security has become
a focal point of security studies.
Amid its ongoing efforts to study and research security phenomena, the university
has demonstrated a keen interest in examining border security issues to confront the
challenges they present. Its comprehensive endeavors in this crucial domain have
borne fruit through diploma and master’s programs, as well as the organization of
scientific forums and conferences. Furthermore, as part of its strategy 2019-2023,
the university established the Arab Center for Technical Cooperation on Migration
and Border Management in collaboration with the International Organization for
Migration. This initiative aims to provide technical, legal, and operational support,
bolster regional capacity in migration and border management, safeguard migrants
and human rights, and offer advisory consultations and strategies for more efficient
human mobility and migration management.
Naif Arab University for Security Sciences is optimistic that these efforts have met
their intended objectives and that specialized bodies in Arab countries have found
them supportive in their endeavors to strengthen border security and address the
humanitarian aspects of migration and asylum crises.
In conclusion, I extend my congratulations to the graduates and express gratitude
to His Royal Highness the Minister of Interior for his patronage of their graduation
ceremony. I seize this opportunity to reaffirm the university’s dedication to continuous
improvement and development through its new strategy 2024-2028, slated for
implementation at the outset of the forthcoming year, by the grace of God.
